Does fasting help reduce cellulite? How to reduce cellulite with exercises?
Cellulite, that skin issue that shows up under the form of dimples on our hips, buttocks, thighs and maybe even arms. You can get it whether you're a size 4 or a size 24, and everyone has a hard time getting rid of it.
Although it might still be a new idea, there are actually a few people that already think that by fasting you can solve the cellulite problem. Let's look into this supposed cellulite cure before we lock our fridge. The hard truth still remains: you can't really get rid of cellulite for good with only one anti cellulite remedy, cure or cellulite treatment. You can make cellulite less obvious, but can you completely get rid of cellulite with fasting or, for that matter, remove a bit of it with this so called cellulite cure?
What are the causes of cellulite?
If you're wondering where cellulite comes from, you can blame - among other things - your genes, as cellulite is often hereditary. It's also incredibly common, as I've stated in most of my articles on this site, almost 9 out of 10 women having it. Aside from genetics, weight gain is another cause of noticeable cellulite. Cellulite occurs when fat cells build up and push up on the connective tissue that attaches your skin to the muscles underneath, so the more fat you have on your body, the more prominent your cellulite will be.
Is fasting a good anti cellulite cure or is fasting bad for your health?
You may think that if you lose a lot of weight quickly through fasting, your cellulite will go away, but that's not necessarily the case. Plus, fasting can leave you with more problems than just dimply skin. When you fast, most of what you lose is fluid weight, and you'll probably end up gaining those pounds back when you start to eat normally again.
Additionally, fasting slows down your metabolism, making it even more difficult to lose weight in a healthy manner. Though quick weight loss might temporarily make your cellulite less noticeable, as soon as you gain it back, your cellulite will appear exactly as it did before.
Anti cellulite exercises are the best way to eliminate cellulite
Instead of fasting, try a regular exercise plan. Incorporate both cardio - for fat burning -- and strength training with weights. Not only will exercise help you burn calories and lose weight safely, studies also show that regular strength training, along with some diet adjustments, contributes to an improvement in the appearance of cellulite.
Tone your thighs and lose cellulite with these anti cellulite exercises
1. Thigh raises
Lie face down and raise your legs so your feet are 2-3 inches off the floor. Bend your knees, keep them off the floor and hold that pose. Begin with 5 seconds then gradually work up to 15. Straighten your legs and slowly lower your legs to the floor. Repeat.
2. Straight leg kick back
Sitting on the floor, bend your right knee and put your foot flat on the floor, while keeping your left leg straight. Lift your left foot about 6 inches off the floor and hold the position for 5 seconds and slowly lower to the floor. Repeat this with the other leg. If you're in the gym, you could also do this exercise sitting with our abdominal area on a bench.
3. Bent-knee kick back
Starting position for this exercise is on your elbows and knees. Make sure to keep your back straight as you raise your left thigh to an angle of about 45 degrees, keeping your knee bent and pointing your heel to the ceiling. Hold the position for 5 seconds, slowly lower your leg and do it again 5 more times. Repeat this exercise on the other side.
4. Inner thigh anti cellulite exercise
On the floor, sit with your back straight, your knees bent and your legs apart. Raise your left arm over your left knee and use your right hand to keep your balance. Raise your right leg into your left hand and hold the position for 5 seconds.
Do five of this exercise then repeat with the other leg.
5. Balance thigh exercise
While holding a rail or back of a chair, keep both feet facing forward and your chin up. Move your right leg back and place your toes touching the floor. Leading with your heel, move your right leg back and raise until your foot is about a foot off the floor. Hold the position for 5 seconds, lower your leg and do it again for 5 repetitions.
Do the same for the other leg and work your way to 20 repetitions.
6. Imaginary chair exercise
With your feet straight, stand about 12 inches from the wall and slide your body down the wall until you are in a sitting position with your thighs perpendicular to the floor. Hold this pose for 30 to 120 seconds.
Anti cellulite products and anti cellulite treatments
If you have the time and the money to undergo expensive cellulite treatments and procedures that claim to help reduce cellulite, including creams, liposuction and radio frequency wave treatment, then you could give those a shot. Anti cellulite treatments could represent a good way of getting rid of cellulite, at least partially, but I'm pretty sure that your skin will look a bit better when it comes to firmness.
But paying attention to your workout routine and diet is one of the simplest and least expensive options. Fasting, if it helps at all, would only be a quick fix.
